Normal Blackjack Rules

Pretty much the same

Despite the endless variables of this game, blackjack features approximately the same rules. With the exception of minor details, this card game is governed by plain rules.

Those who want to play blackjack should know that the goal of this entry level card game is to get as close as possible to 21, without going beyond. Going over is a frequent occurrence, called a bust. Avoid the bust and you'll be sure to defeat the house - gamblers play against the house not against each other. There is also a particular blackjack strategy which can help you to beat this game.

Rules and cards

First is first, players have to place a bet before actually receiving the cards. Everything at blackjack is based on rules, for instance players receive the cards face-up while the house deals one card face-up and the other face-down.

Get acquainted with card values:

  • 2-9 cards equal the number printed on them.
  • Aces can be interpreted as 1 or 11.
  • Face cards + 10 represent 10.

Knowing that acting before the dealer acts is a golden rule. Those who know the rules and blackjack odds can easily build strategies. The latter ones engulf a plain knowledge: knowing when to hit and when to stand. Besides these two options, players can also choose to double down or split, while playing from the First Base.

  • Hit = asking another card
  • Stand= being comfortable with the current cards
  • Double Down=ask for another card and announce that you are doubling your bet
  • Split= split 2 cards and attach another bet

Natural Blackjacks cannot compete against each other, as the dealer has the upper hand. Suppose you have a natural blackjack (ace and a 10/ ace and a face card) and the dealer has a bust or lower than 21, you receive a 3 to 2 payout.

Natural blackjacks are not a rare sight; therefore using the insurance is a wise decision. Taking insurance means placing a bet that does not exceed 50% of the players' bet. If by any chance the dealer receives an ace and a 10 valued card, the player wins 2 to 1 and recovers his money.

Hard vs. Soft Hands- it is up to the player to use the ace in a certain manner. According to the player's decision, the hands will be hard or soft.

  • Hard hand: 8-9-A > you are unable to use the ace as 11.
  • Soft Hand: 2-4-A > enables you to use the ace either as 1 or as 11.

At the end of the day, players have to admit that mastering these simple rules is essential! Good luck!
